The CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. Upon achievement of this qualification it is intended that learners will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators. The qualification follows the Early Years Educator criteria of the National College of Teaching and Leadership (NCTL). We offer this qualification in two ways: • Classroom-based teaching and learning, and workplace assessment over 12-15 months, or • On-line distance teaching and learning and workplace assessment over 12-15 months. To gain this qualification the learner will need to: • Pass all units • Complete longitudinal study • Show competence in a real work environment Learners aged 16+ who meet the entry requirements should be in employment in an early years care and education setting as this qualification requires assessment in real working situations. If learners are not employed at a setting, but have arranged a work placement, please discuss placement with our training advisors who can be contacted on 01732 363070 or via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. A minimum of 350 placement hours is required. During placement, learners will need support from a professional within the real work environment who will be required to complete professional development records. All learners who achieve an Early Years Educator qualification will need minimum Functional Skills Level 2 in both Maths and English to be counted in the ratios at level 3 in childcare settings. Please contact the Training Centre for accepted equivalencies for these required levels.
You should be at least 16 years old. In addition you must be employed or volunteering in a pre-school or nursery setting with access to children from 0-5 and with a minimum 6 months experience. You can enrol on this level 3 without prior GCSEs at A-C grade or functional skills; however to be included in ratios as a level 3 member of staff you will need to achieve Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths.
