This course is for students who wish to improve their reading and writing skills
Who is this course for? This course is for Manchester residents who need to gain level 1 literacy skills to progress to level 2 English, gain employment and or enter training/vocational courses. What will I learn on this course? You will work on the skills you need to improve such as spelling, punctuation, reading and vocabulary development. You will have the opportunity of applying these skills in a variety of contexts including letters, reports, emails etc. How will I learn? There are a variety of course lengths available, including fast track courses so you can learn at your own pace. You will learn through a variety of methods including group, pair and individual work. You will be given the opportunity to take advantage of flexi learning (ie home tasks) when you are unable to attend a session. What qualifications will I gain? Functional Skills (OCR) Level 1. What could this course lead to? This could help you gain the skills you need to help you look for a job or voluntary work. It could also help you to get on another course or training, including progress to a higher level English course, eg Functional Skills in English Level 2. Can I join anytime? Courses start throughout the year.
This course if for you if your reading and writing skills are at an intermediate level, for example be able to read a newspaper and be able to write a letter.
