This course is for students who wish to improve their reading and writing skills
Who is this course for? This is a one year course for speakers of other languages who have excellent speaking and listening skills but need to improve their reading and writing. What will I learn on this course? The focus will mostly be on reading and writing, with a strong focus on improving your grammar and use of vocabulary - with an opportunity to further improve/refine your speaking and listening skills. You will have the opportunity of applying these skills in a variety of contexts including applying for a job, eg CV preparation, job applications, job adverts and interview techniques. How will I learn? This course is two sessions per week. You will work as a group, in pairs and on your own. You will be given work to practise at home. The more you practise the more progress you will make. What qualifications will I gain? Level 1 Functional skills and OCR progression qualifications. What could this course lead to? This could help you gain the skills you need to help you look for a job or voluntary work. It could also help you to get on another course or training, including progress to a higher level English course, eg Level 2 Functional Skills in English Can I join anytime? Courses start in September.
Your speaking and listening must be very good (level 2 ). Your reading and writing skills must be at an intermediate level - level 1.
