This course will help you to develop your English skills by finding your starting point, identifying skills gaps and helping you to learn new skills at your own particular level. This course is for students who wish to improve their reading and writing skills
We offer the Functional Skills English qualification at Level 1 as part of an apprenticeship. This qualification is gained through either an online or paper based examination, testing skills such as reading, comprehension and general literacy. The qualification can be taken at any point throughout the candidates learning with us, the timetable does not have to adhere to school examination periods.
Functional skill qualification in English. This requires a paper based or online examination that is taken at a time convenient for yourself, not necessarily in line with school examination periods. There are speaking and listening elements to this qualification and also reading and summarising a passage which takes the form of an essay of 500 words. There are two essays which need to be completed, each at 500 words each. The general standard is in line with that taught as GCSE level.
